This is a broad public declaration of competing interests.

Financial Interests

I have/had support from University of New South Wales and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine for my masters and doctoral education.

I have/had grants for research(through employing institution) from Indian Council of Medical Research, India, World Health Organization -Alliance for Health Policy & Systems Research, Royal National Lifeboat Institute, Oxford University, World Health Organization- Western Pacific Regional Office, National Health and Medical Research Council, Australia, World Health Organization, Geneva and World Health Organization, Geneva.

I have consulted for evidence synthesis projects of the World Health Organization(through Evidence Aid) and Lancet Commission(through Public Health Foundation of India). I have advised the World Health Organization- South East Asia Regional Office on snakebite.

I have received travel support from Academy of Family Physicians of India, Christian Medical College, Cochrane Collaboration and COMET Initiative for attending conferences/workshops.

I have investments in the National Pension Scheme, Public and Employee Provident fund, all publicly run entities. I have no control or influence on investment decisions of these funds.

I have a small investment in mutual fund of a public sector bank and have no control or influence over the investments they make. I have never held any stocks.

I hold a life insurance policy from Life Insurance Corporation of India(LIC), a public life insurance company. I had brought the policy in 2012 and subsequently become aware reports that LIC invests in tobacco companies . I do not intend to renew the policy on its expiry.

Non-financial interests

I personally believe in access to quality health and health information for all and have advocated for the cause from a long time including as a part of Health Information for All (https://www.hifa.org/)

I am National Convenor of Snakebite Research Network ( https://snakebiteresearch.net.in/), a voluntary research collaborative.

Interests of related parties

My parents hold stocks of various companies and other financial instruments. I am aware of its existence but have no knowledge, control or influence over these investments.
